Databases are a major part of any CMS. Pages, users, blog posts, comments, settings, and other content all need somewhere to be stored.

Laravel migrations allow developers to define database structures using code. Instead of manually modifying a database every time the application changes, the database structure can be tracked alongside the application.

A migration might define fields such as:

id
title
slug
content
published_at
created_at
updated_at

Developers can then run migrations from the console and keep development, testing, and production environments more consistent.
